Wayside: Word is heard but quickly taken away by Satan.
Stony places: Received with joy but abandoned during trials.
Thorns: Choked by worries, riches, and distractions.
Good ground: Received, understood, and produces spiritual fruit.

Those who respond in faith to God's truth receive deeper understanding; those who reject it lose even what they have.
- How do the people see and hear but do not accept the word of God?
People hear and see outwardly but remain spiritually blind because their hearts are hardened and unwilling to repent.
- Why would the tares not be uprooted before the wheat was gathered?
Removing the tares too early could harm the wheat. Jesus teaches that final judgment belongs to God. Separation of true believers and false followers will occur at the end of the age, not before.

The Kingdom of Heaven grows into something large from very small beginnings

Leaven spreads throughout the dough which symbolized growth. As yeast grows, the kingdom of heaven spreads through a person's life. It can also signify the growth of the kingdom by the inner working of the Holy Spirit (using God's Word).
- How is the Kingdom of Heaven like a treasure in a field?
The Kingdom is of immeasurable value, worth joyfully giving up everything else to obtain it.
- How is the Kingdom of Heaven like the merchant seeking the pearl?
The riches of heaven are more than the riches of this earth.
- Who is the householder who brings out old and new treasures?
A teacher of the law who becomes a disciple of Christ who can speak about the fulfillment of the old law in terms of the joy of the things in the new law.
- Did Jesus have any family?
Yes. Jesus had a father (Joseph), a mother (Mary), earthly brothers (James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas) and sisters. Spiritually, however, Jesus taught that His true family consists of those who do the will of God.
