    Salvation

  1. Who was God going to bring down? Why?
    Babylon, they took their power from God too far.
Isaiah 48
  1. Why did God warn Israel early?
    So they would know without a doubt who had proclaimed it.
  2. Why would God put his people in the furnace of affliction?
    To refine and purify them.
  3. How is God the first and the last?
    He is eternal. No one comes before or after.
  4. Who is sent by God and His Spirit?
    The Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
  5. How could the people have had peace and righteousness?
    By following God's commandments
Isaiah 49
  1. Who was called from the womb to become a sharp sword? Where has he been hidden?
    The Messiah, hidden in God's hand.
  2. What would be the servant's duty to God? Who is the servant's strength? To whom would the servant be a light?
    To bring back his people. God will be His strength and He will be a light to the Gentiles
  3. How will God still remember his people, Israel?
    Inscribed them on the palms of His hands.
Isaiah 50
  1. From what would the servant not hide?
    Shame and spitting
  2. Who are we to trust when we are in darkness?
    The Name of the Lord
  3. Who are those who kindle a fire and encircle themselves with it? What will God do to them?
    Those who rely on themselves for light and warmth. They will lie down in torment.
